Neymar overcomes knee injury, says “I'm back” in 369 days



Neymar (Alhilal) made his comeback in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League Elite (ACLE) stage after more than a year on the sidelines with a knee injury last October.

Neymar started the 2024-2025 ACLE League Stage third leg against Al Ain from the bench before coming on as a substitute for Nasser Al Dawsari in the 32nd minute of the second leg at the Haji Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where he played until the end of the match.

Al Hilal held on for a hard-fought 5-4 victory over Al Ain.

With their third straight win in the ACLE, Al Hilal (P9, Goals +8) are level on points with Al Ahli (P9, Goals +4) but lead the West Asia region on goal difference.

The star of the match was Neymar's return from injury.

Neymar injured his knee on Oct. 18 last year in a South American qualifying match for the FIFA World Cup North America 2026 against Uruguay.

After the game, Neymar said: “I feel good. I'm really happy. I'm finally back,” Neymar said after the game.
